The book and photographs together make up this project, and was published by Garzanti Editore S.p.A. in 1984.

The book has a clothbound hardback cover that measures an 15.5 inches horizontally and 12 inches vertically. It is 132 pages in length, filled with images on glossy paper. The foreword is presented in both French and English.

Todd Edward's music has always been some of my favorite mood stabilizers. I think I own everything he's ever put out and he's more than partially to blame for my i! Records addiction (in recovery as there aren't anymore to buy :). I remember hearing Alabama Blues on a Dana Kelley mix from 1995 and it was a mitigating factor getting me deep into house/garage music back in the "RAVE DAYS."

Here's a couple of my favs...

this is one of my absolute favorite garage recs... whenever I hear this my mind plays the same mental music video it played in 1995 in which some crazy, pitchfork wielding farmer is dancing around with a blade of grass in his mouth, bare feet and a pair of dirty overalls... he opens a can of psychedelic beans or something and the song starts playing. hmmm...

and speaking of crazy farmer house...
the Moreso - "Take My Hand" release on i! Records in 1998 was frigging RIDICULOUS!
I have the vinyl somewhere and will post the 4 tracks in entirety soon but for now here's the most "clubby" of the 4 tracks. It's got a very Todd Edwards style vocal dubbing going on.

honestly, I'm not a big fan of the cheese garage stuff. However there is a creepyness to alot of the Todd Edwards tracks and also Filthy Rich's B-Side stuff... this record falls into that category... Man I used to flog this record... oh the 90's. My copy of this was actually cracked one night. The insode B cut is still playable... I'm pretty sure the track is the first dubstep format song ever. Another one I need to dig out. This youtube vid is the inside a-cut I think.

Earth's huddled masses continue their subconscious preparation for a paradigm shift and one of the more tolerable byproducts is Hatchback's new release "The Violet Sequence." I'm pretty sure this track was on Hatchback (Sam Grawe)'s Zeus & Apollo Soundcloud page about a year or so ago but no matter. Apparently, Sam's job as editor of the ever-so-fuckable Dwell Magazine is keeping him too busy to manage more than one secret music moniker. No matter... Dwell Magazine, if human, could certainly appreciate a sensible consolidation of the many lush soundscapes of present-day Hatchback. Brooding beneath a shimmering ambiance, musical vehicles such as The Violet Sequence are proto-ambient disco gems. Hatchback will gently envelope your senses while flying you off in a vintage '53 lunar lander. Android love-bots will beckon to your subconscious from Mikado Yellow Baughman chairs and peering from their 22nd century bay window. Ok, so perhaps I'm being dramatic but Sam's music makes it just that much easier to imagine that the kinder-gentler Utopian dream is not so far off after all. Some music of the "Cosmic" and/or "Balearic" genres can leave you sour from the settling dust of contrived fuzziness or 'look-at-me' melodies. Hatchback's songs trigger some Atlantian meme in my subconscious. Receptors are synthetically rewarded for a 'job-well-done.' Barrel chested ghosts of Easter Island and well-groomed inhabitants of true ancient Egypt (circa 38,000 BC) walk alongside cantankerous Nephilim listening to Sunn O))) on teal iPods and for a moment everything seems to warp into logical sense. In our present times of prefab fear, name-brand wonder, and seemingly endless disinformation it's easy to laugh off the last few years' deluge of "cosmic", "slo", "step", etc. as a byproduct of world culture-gone-mad, a sort of inevitable waste product. Good thing there are artists like Hatchback who prove there to be another more righteous source of art. His internal 'tuner' can clearly descramble a station that resonates deeply with what we presentlyare as human beings but which also gives us a deep sense of where we may be going. The highway of lost house-heads, try hard hipsters, and LSD pseudo-disco-gangsters has an exit in sight.

I guess I'd better hop back behind the wheel of the world before things are too late. I mean, what the hockey sticks, man. I take 6 months for myself and the world starts to crumble around me. The remix nazis have struck and struck hard but there there's still plenty o' music up here on the LMQM.
I'm just not going to describe anything anymore. I think the worst part about it all is there's no trial, or even discussion. You log on one day and half your music has been removed. Swear I could call a song (name of famous d-bag's song) and it doesn't even have to have anything to do with it. It'll be removed "just in case"

The air is ripe with possibilities this Spring. It's the Spring Equinox.. known here as Easter. New musical genres are beginning to come of age. Dubstep is well on it's way to supplanting electro as the hipster crack of choice. And over here in grown-folks land... the 'Slow Motion', 'Cosmic' disco thing is really beginning to take a new form that is transcending it's roots in the 70's and 80's. With artists like AC, Rayko, and Zeus & Apollo cutting music that transcends and Beat Broker putting out mixtapes of all new music clocking well under 100 bpm. Labels launching to specialize in this kind of music like ANOE's Chris Keys' "Lion After Slumber".
To say this is the start of something really cool would be an understatement. This is the start of mainstream awareness of things that shamans have known for millenia. This is the start of scientific confirmation for things once relegated to the fringes of astrology, religion, and metaphysics The way music is heading is reflective of people's collective awareness. Awareness of the consciousness shifts about to hit our planet and way of life. All matter is comprised of vibrations. The inside of Quarks is nothing but a certain vibrational resonance. You can feel this realization crackling it's way through music and culture like electricity.
How else can you explain the appearance of eerily relevant outsider dance music like dubstep from seemingly out of NOWHERE, made by kids that haven't graduated high school., or the sudden simultaneous worldwide obsession and creation of a certain obscure kind of "techno" that is so slow people would've walked off the dance floor if it was played 10 years ago. But it's not slow. It's fast. We're just all starting to dance to a different drummer.
Our mitochondria is beginning to vibrate at a higher frequency. Thus those already tuned in are perceiving things like music much differently. People that are going to think I'm nuts for saying this stuff are going to think I'm nuts. But people that feel what I'm feeling will identify very much with what I'm saying. I'm pretty sure that most of this is NOT the rant of a mad man :\ I'm very confident that all things will be explained to those of us that are willing to understand.

In the mean time... I listen to music.

Two of my last three postings have featured what is to me (and others) some very inspiring art from a new favorite. Mary O'Malley is a new name to me but her works have a familiar feel. Not familiar like apple pie or a rainy spring day, but a familiarity which inspires a very welcome contemplation. Though by no means an art critic, I possess a impressionably difficult pair of eyes. Last Thursday was fairly lackluster until I was introduced to Mary and subsequently, her works. Imagine my surprise upon finding this woman is a recent transplant to Boston's north shore (yeah, I am here too)... I am now freshly believing in a world where inspiration can pop out of my dad's hometown willy nilly. Beverly ain't no Brooklyn (Mary's previous zipcode) but the water is cleaner(?) and the living is easy.

This is a new single from Brooklyn's Sensual Harrassment. I could say to get on these guys while they're still the next big thing. BUT their sound is solid and they have a pretty good shot at some shelf life. They have a sound that MGMT should envy. Not going to get to gushy on this but I highly recommend you carve their name on your forehead and name your child after their deceased guitarist. you can do it. They are produced by Jesse Cannon. You might remember him if you're over 21 from a band called the Cure or under 21 from ANCO. I posted Sensual cut "Daddy Long Legs" a couple months back. I'm probably going to kick myself for doing this entry before I have more information on this guy. I met Italy's Nassau through the wonders of Soundcloud. A truly groundbreaking website, Soundcloud has allowed me to get to know some truly dynamic remixers and producers from around the globe.
According to his profile, Nassau's been disco-jockeying for about as long as someone can do so without having invented the art. His Soundcloud page features edits of some really great tropically-tinged Balearic morsels. I'm not going to do the history lesson on this particular edit of but he sent me his dubbed out version of fellow Italian Ivano Fossati's "Panama" and I've been quite looking forward to writing this post. Part of djing music like this is digging through the crap to find the real gems. So many songs which fit into the "balearic" or "tropical" categories (not one for over-categorization myself) are tucked away into albums of music that were written by jazz musicians who suffer from having just too much talent and not enough good taste to know when to not play every note. I guess you could call it elevator music-itis Maybe I'm just jealous. But you can be the best musician in the world and not be able to get out of your own way. I know a million people like that.
Anyways...
thank God we have people like Nassau in this world to cut through the chaff and edit up some of the finest moments cocktail music glory.

Chi-town's TGIK has been making some of the coolest pop leaning remixes and edits I've heard in awhile. Impeccable pop sensibilities. He draws you out of hiding with a gorgeous melodic groove and then crushes you with extreme predjudice. It's not easy to make unique music that is so ear friendly at the same time and still raw like a mutton-chop. Here's a slowed down jam of his that has an energy a bit like Aeroplane's "Above The Clouds" with a slight Ska-KICK.Very well produced. I can't wait to play this. It's actually been on his Soundcloud page for awhile but he's got so damn much music up there I'd not seen it.

This enigmatic gang-buster appeared in my inbox yesterday from the equally mysterious Mr. Salvador Mali. It's so gooey that I almost slipped back a notch in space-time upon my first listen. There's a heavy sample in there... can't place it right now, Alan Parsons maybe? Went skating today with Bliss. She calls it hockeying. It's been probably 6 or 7 years since I skated outdoors on a pond. Couple other rugrats there playing a pick hockey up game. Definitely good to see kids still out doing something constructive (insert old folks home joke here). We both got new pairs of skates for the holiday. RAD! Today's probably her 4th time skating and she was finally doing it on her own. Kept backing up a little bit further each time and having her skate to me. Then I'd distract her at the last minute so she forgot she was mortified of falling.

Mid 20th century art film maker Kenneth Anger is fairly new to me but I was amazed to follow a friend's link (thanx mary:), dig a little deeper and find this 1979 re edit of the 1950 film featuring "It Came In The Night" by A Raincoat. Although I couldn't find much on A Raincoat, and "It Came..." was supposedly "not on ther album" ... it's actually the only release of theirs I can find any info on at all. Realeased in 1976 and Produced by Andy Arthurs and Steve Stevenson, the 7" fetches upwards of $60. Really interesting and about as obscure as it gets I think.

I know this song is like the laid back 'Balearic' disco obvious choice of the last couple years. There have been a few good edits done .... However I haven't heard such a great version as this.

Sometimes I feel like Homer Simpson when he has "everything" and can't die. He has so many diseases that none of them can get in the door and kill him. Diseases, as I find out, are very bad at waiting in line and clog the entranceway to Homer's 'death-zone'.
This would be a very 'look at me-drama' post except for the fact that I don't have everything. In fact. What I meant was that... I just have so many important things to write that they clog the exit of my thought door and I end up writing blog posts like this. Just one sound-bite could alter the outcome of the present universe. I don't know if anyone is familiar with quantum physics and the whole 10 dimensions thing.

BUT... sometimes I feel like our normal, somewhat eccentric world has gone from being that silly, lovably rebellious tweenager. To suddenly a universe, existence, in which a two headed alien could suddenly pop out from behind a randomly placed boulder. Things are getting a little bit crazy. Believe me, for those of you who are going to leave a comment trying to 'school' me and explain how it really is.... go for it. I choose to appear a lovably curious tween. But looks are deceiving sometimes. I am really a 64 year old ex-hippie who lives on what's left of the Hog Farm on the northern west coast of amerrccca. I communicate with saucers via smoke signal and routinely travel to ancient Babylon in hopes of decoding the book of Enoch's cryptic tales.

I have been listening to alot of music by NYC avant-garde musical genius John Zorn for the last few days. It's quite befitting of the freezing weather and ever deepening blanket of fresh snow. For those of you unfamiliar witth Zorn... HERE's his WIKI. This man puts out some seriously thought provoking music and does it at a pace which makes me a bit jealous. He's one of those individuals who's art really transcends his own person. Seriously on another level. His soundscapes truely will transport you somewhere good for your soul. It's common for me to end a Zorn listening session feeling I have been brought into some sort of metaphysical inner-circle.

That Guy I know. Keeping with the, 'Music I Hear In My Head But Am Not Skilled Enough To Get Down In A Timely Fashion' theme here at LMQM. This Guy I Know does remixes of pop songs that really couldn't be any better. He then pulls some sort of 'well if by yes you mean no then, maybe' type fanciness on you and forces you to guzzle a quart of tequila and cry for hours. What a bastard.
AKA Derek Riddle, This Guy is responsible the best remix I've yet heard of #1 candidate for 'Contrived Earth-Pop Anthem of the Year' Accolade "We Are The People" by the previously mentioned Empire of the Sun. If anyone can think of a way to get this remix of of my/your head... please feel free.

I found the three albums featuring the songs below at my local antique dealer a few days ago. Strangely enough I've owned copies of all three before finding them in a small group in the back of the $.25 bin the other day. Due to the embarrassing state of my record collection I opted for a secondary purchase rather than spending the next 3 days searching (possibly to much avail). I can probably get a good buck for the Budgie EP anyways. so :P

This is Joan Armatrading's song which she told me that she wrote about me. We're in love.

Aztec Two Step are another prolific and hauntingly talented Boston folk/rock/whatever duo from the 70's and on. I would HIGHLY recommend the purchase of their eponymous album upon first opportunity as it's really tremendous, and like the self titled album of Budgie(below artist) the highly trained ear can have a field day combing it for clues into the future of pop music. Basically what I'm saying is that every single song on the album gives quite a bit more than a subtle insight into the source of inspiration for artists like Michael Mayer... bla bla bla.

Budgie's first album "It's Budgie" was recorded in the same studio as Black Sabbath's first full length and is considered to be the first heavy metal album EVEEEEAAAAR. THAT'S right fools. This is not from that album, but if it was it would still not rock because I chose it for it's peaceful cmoplement to the other twoz. However their other songs rock. If you have the patience... I posted the entire "It's Budgie" album about a year ago in WAV form and it can be located on said blog.

**Just to note this posting exists due to a spine chilling cover of the below mentioned song by Laurie Laptop. Any below criticism rests solely on my desire to 'show the world' that I can hear things that aren't there and 'be down'with things that are 'cool'**

This is a cover of the amazing )))WE CAN SAVE THE WORLD and make money off it at the same time((( ANTHEM "We Are The People" by Empire of the Sun. Don't know if MGMT and Nick Littlemore had some sort of Bilderberg Group-like summit or something before they decided to unleash the less-than-subtley capitalising on 'their' Mayan, 2012 pre-freakout sub-genre of "electro/disco" (not my noun-jectives). If you ask me, Empire of the Sun sounds strikingly and suspiciously like something across between Echo and the Bunnymen and The Church.
We certainly don't have to point out the obvious conceptual similarities between MGMT and EOTS. Do however find the similarities between EOTS and fellow Aussies The Church as well as Echo and the Bunnymen to be way too much to overlookz. Was a big church fan back in my formative years, yes even before Donnie Darko... wow. And also a big EBM fan

I can think of which EBM song it is but there one in which sounds a LOT like Luke Steele of EOTS/Sleepy Jackson.
Gotta be an obvious one, a hit otherwise why'd they copy it...maybe this one...

I was in fact not introduced to this song by the commercial (for vw or an 'Ipawd' or something?) but by a cover from Laurie Laptop I ran across one day on soundcloud.
Mr. Laptop is quite the prolific producer out of Manchester...
I'm just ripping this from his bio page...

For those of you that don't know, Durutti Column was on the world famous Factory records back in the 80's, label of Joy Dicision, New Order, ACR. He makes great music and I think I did a post about a year ago about him. but enough digressing.

Laurie is a helluva nice guy and if you check his SOUNDCLOUD page you'll be pretty blown away by his range of production (there's alot available for download aswell). He's kind of coined a very icy-warm sort of computer-dub sound that I can't remember hearing anywhere else.

Here's a stellar version of "We Are The People" which really captures aforementioned ice-dub sound by Laurie Laptop. If it wasn't for Laurie I never would've heard of empire of the sun.

I recently met a really hardworking and talented dj/music afficianado out of Yogjakarta, Indonesia named Bintang. Along with dj Ones, Bintang does a weekly dj mix broadcast on deadmediafm.org called MYSTICAL! They are into some really great music and if I didnt know any better I'd think they were broadcasting from Brooklyn or something. It gives me warm fuzzies to know that there are people on the direct opposite side of the planet into the same stuff we are here in (presently snowy) Boston.
Last week's MYSTICAL! featured fellow East coaster Nick Chacona and this sunday for their 7th broadcast they've asked me to put together some content. It's been awhile since making a mix so this was a good excuse to put together some really great new music. You'll hear unreleased stuff from Rayko, Eddie Mars, Ray Burst and the Disco Outcasts. As well as a healthy dosage of Enya (is there such a thing?)
Mystical! airs at 5 AM EST DEC 7 (yes you read that right) aka 5 PM in Jakarta. Nice of them to make it exactly a half a day later there. I'm gonna have to start hitting them up for stock tips and insight into my sports betting. aaanyways....

I can't tell you how many times I've thought of how strange it will be when we're all going out dancing and we're in our eighties. So I've been repping the Kountry3astern thing for awhile now and everything. bla bla. The fact that disco was probably more (commercially) popular than rock in the late 70's led to some terrible genre crossbreeds. One of my personal favorites is thew whole country disco thing. This genre almost certainly never existed in any practical dancefloor sense. Outside of David Grusin, Kenny Rogers, and Dolly Parton's warped fantasy worlds, it's highly improbable this world of woven silk lassooz and cocaine encrusted pick-up trucks ever existed for more than ))))one fleeting night(((( outside of the Hollywood smolder of Electric Horsemen. I did a post on the Electric Horseman a couple years back and you can download a track or two from the vinyl. Anyways. I'm not going to disclose any more of my secrets right now but one man who is ahead of me in this racquet is Mnsnr. Peter Visti. I'm posting his "Dolly EP" from a year and a half or so back. It's a 3 tracker on Mindless Boogie. Just ripped this from vinyl. Eat your heart out pre-silicone Dolly Parton stahlz.

I got these cuts a couple weeks back from my man Mark Rejekt. They've been on heavy rotation since then. The Mark is (from what I gather) a member of the Disco Outcast from Manchester, UK. The Adam (Acid) Strange page really caught my attention. Everyone's so obsessed these days with disco or minimal techno that when some really brooding house music comes along it almost catches me off guard. Sad to say that but it's true. I guess the last few posts here have been reflecting that a little bit. And my general desire to listen to house music again. Gotta say,did need a break. From age 18-27 (ish) there wasn't much else playing in my vicinity. Needless to say, me and house music needed some time to think things over. We're in love again however. Anyways... there's some great stuff being made now and this is some of it.

So I ran into this guy on the interwebs a little while back and I've been heckling him for a copy of this one really great track of his "Drinks After Midnight." Using a lush, Milton Jackson-esque synth atmosphere Gary has put together one of my favorite housers of the last year. In the tradition of a lot of the finest techno and housings... "Drinks After Midnight" uses a luxurious synth patch to repeatedly seal the deal ... like happy pink hippie crack. (just an analogy, LMQM in no way condones the use of any color of crack).

Leri decided to do a radio show when he started playing again locally after a 6-7 year pause. Wanting to promote the music and himself, he's managed to eloquently piece together some show which, IMHO... highlight an impressive cross section of new dance music that breaks the cell wall into listenability(something important for the hardened over 27 set). I an area of which the air waves and ears are monopolized by the "poison:)" of progressive and minimal (j/k he plays some of the latter [note: how I combine the end parentheses with a classic smiley] :) grammer'z never seen better... Leri does it proper. Features a combination of live mixing and track drops. 2 hours is time for both and I respect his stamina.

Every time I get an email Mr. Neoteric Research Unit he seems to be in another desirable "destination" in Europe. Aside from vaulting from vacation to vacation the N Unit finds time to collect synths and use them to make music that is unique and incidentally makes me salivate in a non homo way. He's promised me another track upon his return to wherever it is that his bed and studio live. I think however that I will have to live with these three songs. As you will hear, Mr. N Unit (not to be confused with my 4th grade math teacher who's name was also Neoteric Research Unit) has a diverse flair for music-ings while managing to maintain the tie that binds. His radio program garners a whopping 50,000 listeners per and he blends multiple genres together effortlessly. "Poor Ragged Rascal has been a music producer and DJ for over 10 years. His early productions were an exploration of house, jazz, funk, D&B, and all things soulful and electronic. In 2001, he began to get deeper in to the worlds of nu-jazz, future funk and broken beat. His next undertaking, a live experimental project called Playlofts, was a group of highly talented players, which included vocalist Katherine Paton, guitar player Jon Garces, himself on the keys, and a live visual artist. Playlofts was a live experimental project that blended classic funk, electronic broken beats, and jazz with a stream of live visual elements. A show accredited with raw energy and soulfulness. In 2006 he started the multimedia company BlackMarketFunk.com that consists of a internet radio podcast and a record label. The podcast is also available through itunes and has recently grown to over 50,000 downloads every episode.

Combolito aka Sumo aka Bangana is from Stockholm, Sweden. I know his Sumo stuff from the late 90's/early 2000's on the... dare I say... 'legendary'... Seasons Recordings(formerly Earthtones) that's the label where other influential producers such as Natural Rhythm also began their ascent. His new stuff veers decidedly from the jazz infused house sounds of Sumo and into some really (imho) cutting edge sounds.

So last week or something a group of Redbull mainlining Bostonians, One of whom (Bandaid from Harmonix fame... and the Harmonix collective Oxytocin) I am lucky to be quite well bros with, finished this video game about a band that "music connosieurs" about the free western world deem the best rock band of all time. Whether these Beatles are the best or not is besides the point. In other parts of the world Omar Souleyman is the best. In Salsburg, Austria... Mozart is the rockin-est. Who cares. The Beatles are pretty damn cool to pretty much everyone. And that makes them cool to me. They also had a great run with some sort of hair/fashion adviser or something. Anyways..... I first heard about this game's imminent release so long ago that Kindergarten seemed pretty far off. But yet I am of age and the time is now.

This guy Jonathon Moore from the Leftside Wobble makes kick ass music and if you've ever read me before you know that.

Whether the stars have aligned and the "Most Important Video Game Ever" and 'The Most Important Beatles Edit Of All Time' just so happen to have hit the internets in the same 2 week period, whether Jonathon Moore and Harmonix are in some sort of cahoots, or whether this was all a part of The Leftside Wobble's evil plans doesn't really matter. Because the Beatles are feeling pretty much even more important right now and that's what matters. The Beatles matter. Esso Trinidad Tripoli Steel Orchestra Covers Jackson 5

I've had this song kicking around for a few years. Actually did a remix of it like 3 or so years ago but that was like 4 broken laptops ago.

here's a bio of them...

"The Tripoli Steelband goes back to 1942, where they took their name from the line in the Marine Hymn “....to the the shores of Tripoli”. Hugh Borde who was born in Port-of-Spain, Trinidad in 1933, became the leader of the band in 1951, at the age of 18. He was already an excellent ping pong soloist on the instrument.

By 1964, the band entered the first Steel Band Music Festival in Trinidad and received a standing ovation at the Queen’s Hall for their rendition of “The Man I Love.” By 1965, the Esso Oil Company decided to sponsor the band. Later that year the Esso Tripoli Steel Band won the ‘bomb’ (interpreting a piece of European classical music arranged for the steel band) at the Panorama, a national competition between steel bands.

Borde also led the National Steel Band of Trinidad & Tobago at the Commonwealth Arts Festival in England, and the Esso Tripoli Steel Band won the Prime Minister’s Trophy which gave them the right to play for Queen Elizabeth of England during her visit to Trinidad in 1966.

For three weeks during their 1967 tour, the band was chosen, by official request, to play at the outdoor stage of the Trinidad-Tobago and Grenada Pavilion at Expo ‘67, the World’s Fair in Montreal, Canada. After the tour, an album was put out on the ARC Sound label out of Toronto. It was aptly called The Esso Trinidad Steelband On Tour. One of the band’s biggest breaks occurred during one of their performances at the Expo ‘67. Liberace, the world famous pianist, became fascinated with the band, offering them an opening slot in his show and taking them on tour for two years. Borde recalls, “He was very proud to present to the people in America, this unique type of music. He would come and play ‘12th Street Rag’ or ‘Alleycat’ with us.” With Liberace sitting in on a few songs, Tripoli recorded an album (‘Liberace Presents the Trinidad Tripoli Steel Band’), that later went on to win a Grammy Award.

The band was no longer called the Esso Trinidad Steel Band, as the Esso Company was not sponsoring the band, anymore. In the late 1960s, in addition to their work with Liberace, the band also performed alongside top entertainers like Sammy Davis Jr., Frank Sinatra, Bob Hope, Della Reese, Dionne Warwick, and others. They also had major guest shots on television shows hosted by Ed Sullivan, Mike Douglas and David Frost.

Back home in Trinidad, Borde won the prestigious Hummingbird medal Award in 1971. By 1976 Borde and his family left Trinidad and moved to Ypsilanti, Michigan. While he was in Trinidad adjudicating at the 1977 Panorama, his son, Emile was at home putting together a band with other family members, in the basement of the family home. When Hugh returned to Michigan he felt that the band was good enough to go on the road as the new Trinidad Tripoli Steelband.

The band recorded an album in 1985 called “Momentum” for the Meridian record label. In 1994, the band recorded “Hot Like Fire” for the Schoolkids record label. They continue to tour the U.S. and Hugh continues to be a judge at the annual Panorama in Trinidad during the Carnival Season.

In June of 2001, Warner Brothers are to begin filming the life of Liberace, starring Robin Williams. They have contacted Hugh about this, so hopefully, the music of the Esso Trinidad Tripoli Steelband will be heard again. "

New Delicasessions Nano Radio Show...

So Delicasessions and I are officially fraaaands. The host/djs Nero and Tom have really been great in supporting my music. And that means a lot to me. Know why? Because, if you'd listen to a radio show anyways, but then they happen to play your new tracks AND make glowing comments about said music in a friggin' rocking English accent (pardon my ignorance, I don't have the regional dialect offhand). Long story shorter. I've never once asked these guys to play my music, sent them a demo, nuttin' . They're just mad cool like that. So anyhow... This relatively new Delicasessions show has a lot of really cool kind of balearic-ish, acoustic-ish, house-ish, techno-ish stuff that ... well it's a very eclectic show but they manage to really make sense of it all somehow. The third song is a KILLER, acoustic, portisheadie remake of that new "Please Don't Stop The Music" song by Rhianna. It's hilariously good. Your tongue may need a minute to get out of your cheek.

Did Farah Fawcett's PR people realize the unnacceptable error in their judgement yesterday? Talk about poor planning, people... get on the BALL! These are serious questions that need answers, NOW! While you're all frantically struggling to unearth the answers to these hard questions which the "drive-by media" is ignoring, Rush Limbaugh is igniting the talk radio circuit with hardline rhetoric daring to connect the dots between Obama's involvement in "Operation Iranian Freedom" and Michael's suspiciously missing glove. Coincidence? I think so.

Matters & Dunaway is the illustrious Andre Obin on bass and vox alongside programming of Tom Gallagher. I am pretty sure they both work on the production side of things. They are yet another reason Boston is kicking ass. When I hear their name I think of the famous interview with Pink Floyd years ago when they were asked by the hapless interviewer "which one's Pink?" Like, which one's Matters? I have to say that it's pretty difficult to come up with a new sound in these times of global musical exponentials. However, Andre and Tom have managed to do so. I know I'm a little bit late to this party, but when I heard Dystopian Dream a few months back I got chills down my spine. I'd also like to note that the term "electronica" is a heap of bull manufactured by some re-tread who thought Prodigy was actually interesting back in 1998. "Wow, they're so cutting edge" the man said, "no one makes music like this." As he slunk back into his cave of mediocrity, 2.3 million people around the globe snickered and put on a Richie Hawtin mixtape. But I digress. Somehow both epic and understated, please enjoy the genre bending post-proto-doubletime loveliness of the otherworldly Matters and Dunaway.

Linda Lewis is considered a seminal musician of the 70's. Born in East London, she lived the majority of the 70's hanging out with people like Marc Bolan, Elton John, Cat Stevens, and Soft Machine's vocalist and drummer Robert Wyatt. Though quite famous in the 70's, some consider her career to have never met it's potential in the longevity department. She is presently in thew midst of a bit of a revival with support from such musicians as Common, Basement Jaxx, and Jamiroquai.
Leftside Wobble's Jonathan Moore just sent me this perfect edit of Linda Lewis' Sideways Shuffle. This is definitely my favorite edit of the month. EASY. I love the fact that he really added alot to the track without changing it's essence. Thanks Jonathan!

Anyways, Plastic Dreams captures the sort of dragon chasing almost but not quite there feel of the 90s rave scene. Also worth noting is that this is the first place I've ever heard this drum pattern which was probably the third most used from 1997-'99 and shows up on every other bad "limited pressing" house remix made in San Fran during those years.

Talk about a conversation jump-start... I was even sucked in, knowing full well it was a trap. What a strange thing to say… was “Balearic Disco” ever alive? Did it live in a zoo or in the wilds. Does it drink coffee or tea? When is/was the funeral? Or was it cremated with little fanfare and the presence of only a few estranged relatives. If “Progressive Trance” can still breathe from the death throes of life support then “Balearic Disco” has a chance. Quite frankly I think Lindstrom and whatever his name’s music sucks ass and I would much rather listen to Scrod Johnson’s new album. But seriously, if Balearic is even a genre, then it’s a straight gay transvestite milkman on rollerskates with a marked propensity towards procrastination and sloth. My relationship with Balearic disco is like that of many to what they consider God. I define it how I see fit at the moment... it's a personal relationship. Damn, If I want to play a Crosby Stills and Nash record backwards on 45rpm and mix it on three stanton turntables with a warped cassette tape of Jeff Foxworthy and the new "Sally Struthers Sings The Best Of Little Bo Peep" E.P. then I'm "Balearic" as all hell. And, Rave on Batman! Seriously though, not like America matters... but 999,999,999 out of 1,000,000,000 Americans agree that "what the hell is Balearic?" It's what Joey yells to Eric in the outfield.

Here's two tracks from a couple of honorary vikings. Actually, I guess if it was about 3,000 years ago they'd probably be more than honorary... Rune would probably have been the more intimidating of the two. I can't imagine running too fast with someone named "The Todd" running at me in his interestingly patterened speed-os.

Nautilus is one of those tracks that you kind of wonder how the world was rotating before it came into existence. Or like, maybe it's always been there and Rune just discovered. A definite instant classic. I know people say instant classic more than instant milk, but this really is one of the top tracks of the last couple years. IMHOE!

Todd Terje is one of the more prolific remixer/editors of the last 4 or so years. I have a personal obsession with his chiseled with feathers edit style that seriously blurs the line between edit and original and remix... or whatever. Always purrrfect.

For the three people that weren't at Metro Area this last Saturday, well... I feel sorry for you. It was great and such geezers as Adam O, Thatcher, Littleboy... etc. etc. It was a really good time. people seriously came out of the woodwork but it wasn't a typical Boston clique style party. Very diverse.

Moton Records started putting out edits of "dubious legality" in 2001 or so. I have the first 13 of them but kind of fell off the bus after I started doing my own music. These records are so mysteriously labeled... i.e.... hardly any info whatsoever and there's no info about those behind the edits and/or release on Moton's vinyl. They basically take the diy/no ego involved/ permanently and purposely ridiculously underground thing to the fullest extent. Funny because almost every person I know who has started djing within the last 5 years or so is the exact opposite and is busy trying to spastically shout there name from the highest mountains of the interwebs. These guys... Jarvis and Diesel are from the U.K. (obviously) and apparently live in a cave deep beneath the White Cliffs of Dover.. or something.

So I am in the process of converting a bunch of my vinyl into WAV form. This is great in theory, but it takes forever not to mention being a major space hog on my drive. Trading physical space for virtual space... what a tangled web we weave. Vinyl is also a great source for great sounding samples so I guess it's worthwhile. I got this album for a buck. Thanks Lilla.

Big ups to Alex Zahara for the booking of the year. This is the Inaugural event for a new series of parties brought to you by Alex called Where's The Love? I am pleased to be included in this event and opening along with Alex and Mark Ingram for Metro Area. Considered by many to be the most influential production team of the decade, Morgan Geist and Darshan Jesrani have yet to DJ in Boston together. Hot off their red hott Fabric:Live mix, they are only doing a few dates in the states, one of which is Boston. Alex Zahara is also not one to miss... he's has been djing since before it was cool and has one of THE best collections of Detroit tinged techno that I've ever heard. Making this night even more ridiculous is the fact that it's taking place at the intimate GoodLife bar in downtown Boston. Their sound system is redd iculous.. Don't miss it... Adam used to live in Boston a while back during which time he was one of my closest and most loyal friends. In fact, for someone I sometimes don't speak to as often as I'd like.... Adam is one of the most deeply rad guys there is. An extremely creative, inspiring, and imho groundbreaking undergound producer... Adam also kills the ones and twos.
